KANCHENJUNGA BASE CAMP LODGE TREK:
At Crystal Mountain Treks, we had a much-needed busy Autumn trekking season this year. Dhanyabad to all our trekkers!!! After two-plus years of very little work, the guides and staff at Crystal Mountain Treks were very happy to have the opportunity to lead several back-to-back treks. And for the first time, we ran a LODGE trek to the Kanchenjunga Base Camp. Because the lodges on this trek are still very basic, we did carry tents and some food to supplement those available on the trail. Read about the format and lodge conditions in this short blog – Lodge trek to Kanchenjunga Base Camp. A similar trek is the one to Makalu Base Camp.
JOIN A MANASLU CIRCUIT TREK IN APRIL 2023:

IMPACT OF POST-MONSOON RAINS ON TREKS IN NEPAL:
October is usually considered a good time to trek in Nepal. But recent experiences have taught us that it is best to start any high altitude trek that involve crossing a pass only after the 10th of October. Read this short blog about effects of the post-monsoon rains (end September and early October) on treks in Nepal.
A new book on trekking in the Himalaya is just out and available at bookstores and on Amazon. Travels Across the Roof of the World: A Himalayan Memoir by William and Anne Frej chronicles their treks throughout the Himalaya starting with a Sierra Club trek around Manaslu in 1981 and continuing through travels in Pakistan, northern India, Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan. On many of their travels the Frejs were accompanied and guided by Ram Rai, a longtime Crystal Mountain Treks sirdar who many of you may know well. The book is dedicated to Ram and to the late Hugh Swift who wrote two excellent guidebooks on trekking in the 1980s. The book contains 228 color photographs accompanied by 19 maps and text describing the treks.
