Lodge trekking in the Kanchenjunga region

Lodge at Pangpema
Is it possible to do a lodge trek in the Kanchenjunga region?

Is it possible to do a lodge trek to the Kanchejunga Base Camp?

Yes, it is possible to do a lodge trek in the Kanchenjunga region. A dirt road has now been built up to Sekathum which cuts two/three days of trekking. This road continues North-West towards Olangchung Gola to ultimately connect with Tibet. On the other hand, the Kanchenjunga trek route heads North-East.

There are now basic lodges in all the areas including in Sekhathum, Amjilosa, Gyabla, Ghunsa, Khambachen, Lhonak, Pangpema, Selela pass, Tseram, Ramje, Torongtan and Yamphudin. So while it is very possible to visit the North Base Camp, the day hike from Ramje to the South Base Camp and back to Ramje is a very long days walk of more than 10 hours at a fast-pace.

The lodges are clean but quite basic with a common toilet. And besides in Ghunsa and Gyabla most will only serve Dal Bhat (rice with lentils) and noodles.

Do check out our Kanchenjunga Base Camp Lodge Trek. For those who wish to visit our projects in the Kanchenjuga region, the lodge trek option is a little shorter in duration than our Camping trek option and is more pocket-friendly. We will carry a tent and some food too to provide more options.
